Growing Herbs Indoors in the Winter
A great way to add freshness to your winter diet is to have a indoor herb garden. Herbs have all kinds of uses, from cooking, baking, salads, teas, flavored waters, beauty/health and cleaning products. All you need is a sunny spot in your home, good potting soil and a container. Great gardening tip is to grow what you will use.
Delicate greens like a sunny spot, watered regularly then allowing some dry time and fertilized with a fish fertilizer diluted in water, added once a month to keep them growing green.
Some herbs would be; Chives, Dill, Mints, Parsley, Cilantro, Lemon balm, Sage, Thyme, Basil, Rosemary, Oregano, Stevia and Tarragon, the list is endless and easy to grow. Fresh is always great but if the herbs are growing well you can cut and hang dry them in little bundles, once dry put them in containers to use later.
You could also include some salad greens, many grow just like herbs, but only grow what you will use, most are best used fresh. So go ahead and grow your indoor herb garden through the winter and enjoy.
